We are excited to begin the 2016-17 school year with your student. We hope Back-to-School Night provides you and your student(s) with an opportunity to connect with our staff, open lines of communication, and seek resources that will provide your student with the opportunity to reach their goals and dreams. Students are invited to join their parent/guardian during Back-to-School night and should remain with parent/guardian during the evening.
Back to School Night Format
Our Back to School Night (BTSN) format is designed to meet your needs and accommodate your busy schedule. You will have the choice to personalize your BTSN depending upon the information you want and need, your student’s grade level, and the time that works best for you. If you are a parent of multiple children in different grade levels, we also hope you will find this format to be much easier for you.
An “Open House” time is scheduled from 5:20 to 5:40. This time is set aside for students to set up lockers, get in line for pictures, visit informational tables, locate classrooms using your student’s schedule, visit with administration, student services, and teaching staff.
Navigating the Night
You will choose from options available during the 2 sessions. Session 2 will be a repeat of information from Session 1. You DO NOT need to attend every presentation during each session. You may also choose to attend a part of Session 1 and a part of Session 2. You will select the sessions that meet your needs and desired time frame.
For example, an 8th grade parent may choose to only attend the 4:40 Core House presentation and the 6:00 Encore/Music/Phy. Ed. Meet and Greet.
Student Schedules/Power School Access
In order to plan for and navigate this evening, you should print a schedule from PowerSchool using your Power School Parent Access Portal. To log into PowerSchool, please visit the VASD Website; www.verona.k12.wi.us
Student School Pictures
Your student will have the opportunity to have their school photo taken during Back-to-School Night. Photos will be taken in the lower level of the Commons. While we advise students to stay with Parents throughout the Back-to-School Night, students may wait in line for their picture without a parent. If your student misses this opportunity, re-takes will be available during the opening weeks of school.
6th Grade students and new students to the Verona Area School District will be able to pick up their locks on the top level of the commons.
Room 106 will have school supplies available to students in need of supplies.
A variety of informational tables will be set up on the middle level of the Commons, including:
Student Health and Sports Physicals, School Nutrition (Breakfast/Lunch), Homework Club, Extra Curricular Activities, Community-Based Resources, Badger Ridge Parent Boosters.
Pizza slices and water will be sold for a minimal cost.
One to One iPad Sessions
iPad student/parent informational presentations will NOT occur during Back to School Night. There will be meetings held to provide more information about our 1:1 iPad program. More information will be distributed at a later date.
